MetaMetrics® is continuing to transform the world of English language educational policy and practise through continued research and reporting. The Lexile Framework provides a scientific, standardised approach to measuring English text difficulty and reading performance globally. The Lexile Framework offers a conjoint measurement framework that puts both texts and learners on the same developmental scale to accurately match students with reading materials. The Lexile Framework for Reading is backed by more than 30 years of research and was developed by the renowned psychometric team at MetaMetrics, an educational measurement and research organisation. Backed by the academic research community, there are hundreds of independent research studies using Lexile® measures to gauge text complexity or measure reading performance.
The development of the Lexile Framework was funded by US government research grants. And MetaMetrics continues to explore and analyse reading behaviours and best practises through their dynamic research pipeline. Their research identifies real world English reading demands for the earliest of learners to those entering into university and careers. MetaMetrics also partners with many well-known American and international universities to conduct joint research studies. Their latest partnership with British Council evaluates how English as a foreign language students comprehend English reading materials.
The Lexile Framework & Education Policy
Today, MetaMetrics continues to explore the relationships between English language learning, education policy, measurement and instruction. The Lexile Framework for Reading has been used in hundreds of studies in 25 U.S. states and 24 countries. MetaMetrics’ research publications explore topics such as how to bridge the career readiness gap, achieve success for higher education and careers and communicating success to parents and other stakeholders.
